Southern California has been the seat of one of the most powerful spirits of seduction released in this century. A movie rated PG-13 coming out of Hollywood can have more power to seduce than some R- or X-rated movies produced in other cities. For this reason we must depend on discernment, not ratings, when we determine what movies we will watch or allow our children to watch. It is not the amount of skin that is shown; it is the spiritual power behind a movie that counts.

The Lord can shut down all pornography around the world whenever He so chooses, but He will not do it without the church fulfilling its commission to be the light of the world and the salt of the earth. He is only waiting for us to come into harmony with His will before He moves. Once He determines that it is time for judgment, He wants His church praying for it, just as Elijah did to revive his nation. Effective prayer touched God’s heart for Southern California, and He responded with this earthquake as a sign, as well as a judgment. Even though the Lord has been showing great mercy to Southern California for the entire twentieth century (beginning with the Azuza Street Revival and continuing with the great movements and ministries He has based there), His strategy is moving toward increasingly serious judgments.

In the new millennium, earthquakes will bring greater devastation to Southern California, for as long as the church prays, the Lord will not relent until repentance and change occur. Without repentance, a major part of California will be utterly destroyed. Either way, God’s heart has been touched concerning the spirit of seduction that emanates from Southern California, and He will not let up until it is removed. Let us pray that the easier way—repentance—will be taken.

This is not the time for the church to abandon California, but to labor with even more boldness, which is the message of Acts 4:31. The move of the Holy Spirit in the new millennium will be greater than any other witnessed in this state, which has seen so much of God’s glory. Los Angeles really can become “the city of angels.” San Francisco and San Diego can become great beacons that shine all the way to Asia. Where sin abounds there is even more grace for those who carry the light.
